You, Your Bed, and Your Computer: The Ultimate Office Space

May 14th 2020

Working from home has become the new normal for many of us. With uncertainty in the air, it seems as if we’ve already dedicated a small section of our house and labeled it as the “office space.” This is where we place our laptops, stationery items, and even some of our beloved coffee mugs.

While many of us are still getting used to working from home, we have to remember that we have the option to choose where we work in our homes. This means that you don’t necessarily have to work at the kitchen table or the home office’s desk. You can actually work from the comfort of your own bed.

Now working from bed may seem extreme for some people. We’re used to working on a flat surface and keeping the environment similar to our company’s office. But changing things up and working from your bed isn’t all that bad.

If you’re planning on trying out working from bed, here are some tips that will help you out.

Use Pillows to your Advantage

There’s no need to buy fancy stands to work from your bed. Simply use the pillows around you. For example, a pillow can replace a lap desk and it can also serve as a comfortable armrest. The plush possibilities are endless.

Spread Everything Out

A great advantage of working from your bed is that you’re able to spread all of your office items. Picture it: You have a nightstand next to you for your coffee mug, your phone charger on the side, and all the stationery items right in front of you. Everything is spread out evenly and perfectly around your bed.

Use Adequate Lighting

Some people refuse to work from bed because they get too cozy and that’s probably because they keep the same, sleepy ambiance. As soon as you wake up, make sure to open windows or turn on lamps. This will keep you awake and alert when working from your bed.

Take a Different Type of Break

Did you know that there are a variety of stretches that you could do from the comfort of your own bed? You heard that right. There are many videos on YouTube of people doing yoga on their bed and showing you their most relaxing poses. Time to get your bed stretches on!

Get Comfortable and Feel Relaxed

You’re no longer confined to a chair where you have to constantly hunch over. You’ll have a comfortable pillow and an  Afloat mattress for constant support. You’ll also feel more relaxed when your body is not physically and mentally at a desk. Taking advantage of that calm state of mind allows for creativity to flourish in ways that you never thought possible.
