What’s your normal morning routine? Hitting the snooze button a couple of times then dragging yourself out of bed?
We have a few stretches you can do in the morning to help you feel more energized and ready to take on the day!
Upward Stretch: Lace your fingers together and raise your hands above your head, palms facing upward. Elongate your spine and feel the stretch in your ribcage and arms. Hold for a count of 10.
Neck & Shoulder Stretch: Ease the neck tension you experience while sleeping. To stretch the muscles on the right side of your neck, turn your left ear over to your left shoulder and hold for 20 seconds. Repeat on the other side to stretch out your left side. Relax for a moment and then roll your shoulders to the back, and then to the front. Then lift them up to your ears, tensing the muscles, and allow them to slowly drop. Repeat this entire process three times.
Hamstring Stretch: This is a great way to get your legs ready to carry you throughout the day! Start by getting into a comfortable position on your back. Pull your left leg as far up as you can and hold your thigh for support. Hold this for 15 seconds then slowly drop your leg and do the same to your right side.
Knees to Chest Stretch: This is the perfect stretch to transition into after the hamstring stretch! Start by laying on your back and keeping your legs straight out. Bring your left knee to your chest and hug it as close as you can. Hold that stretch for 15 seconds then slowly let your leg go back. Repeat these steps on your other leg. Do this 3 times on each leg switching in between sequences.
Shoulder Stretch: While sitting or standing, relax your shoulder blades back and down. Reach your left arm across your body and use your right arm to hug your left arm tight to your body and deepen the stretch. Hold for 15-20 seconds and repeat on the other side.
After performing these stretches, you should feel relaxed and warmed up to face the day!
